Ive just installed a new Seagate Barracuda ST380024A Hard drive as a primary slave, formatted using discwizard for ntfs.... Now everytime i boot up it stays at the windows xp load screen for about 4 minutes instead of like 30 seconds!!! This problem has only occured since installing the new HDD.

I have a P4 1.7Ghz, 512 RAM, Gigabyte GA-8SG800 Mobo...

My other Hard drive (Primary Master) is a western Digital WD300BB-00AUA1

Mate these fair-dinkum contraptions are bloddy alright... Pity they can't jump as high as a kangaroo!!

So your Windows is in the primary master drive? Can you format the new drive again using Windows instead of discwizard and see if this helps?

Try the old F8 during bootup and select Debug mode so the XP screen won't show and you can see where the load process is hanging.
