I don't think I ever played Prince of Persia, right now for some reason I can't seem to get Serious Sam The Second Encounter to run on my machine, which makes no sense at all.
My machine runs FarCry flawlessly but not SSSE, I've adjusted OpenGL just about every way it could be adjusted and still no joy. It just doesn't make sense, got any ideas?
I'm waiting for that game myself... Your like me, load the old game in anticipation to play while your waiting.. Did you get the patches for Second Encounter? I believe there was 2 patches for the game... Just a thought though. I know your on the ball.. It doesn't make sense like you said.. I'll find mine & see if I can load it, later...

actually, try an OLD version of drivers, sinse serious sam is an old game
Thats a possibility I guess, but none of the drivers this entire year have worked, and neither do the original drivers that came with the graphics card itself, thats why its got me so stumped here?

what video card do you have?
ATI 9800 Pro
I saw an article somewhere, I don't remember where, that mentioned problems in some games with a machine running a ATI 9800 Pro and a Creative Audigy 2 ZS soundcard, so to get FarCry to run properly I removed the ZS and went onboard sound and the FarCry problems dissappeared, but Serious Sam Second Encounter wouldn't run with that configuration either, but that proved there was something to the article.
I've also tried it with 3 different operating systems, 98SE, XP Pro, and 2K Pro, ending in the same results, I can't figure how FarCry can run so good, which is a definite machine pushing game, and SSSE won't run at all. I don't have to play the game I would like to, but right now I would just like to understand whats happening here and why.

Its patched to vs 1.07 thats the only patch I could find, if you run it on your machine, please list your specs video and soundwise, to get an idea if hardware is the actual problem here, I'm beginning to suspect that some system configurations just don't work well with some games and in some cases top of the line actually may be too much, for some of the marketed games, combining that with software conflicts. What baffles me is why one game runs without any problems what so ever with the same hardware configuration and another game does not, Tron 2.0 and AvP 2 runs fantastic with not one problem, with the same configuration SSSE will not run on at all. This is just baffling me and I'm trying to understand why its happening, and what is causing it. In the past I ran SSSE with no problems what so ever, but I was running a GF4 TI-4400 graphics card at the time.

Calm down Vic! everythings alright he wasn't talking directly to me with what I referenced there and we're cool, put the boxing gloves back on the shelf.
The vehicles worked OK in FarCry, but there was a lot of times I didn't use the vehicles and snuck up on the guys that were going to ambush the vehicle, killed them and then went back and got the vehicle. He He Suckers!
Actually I got my temporary license last September and have reserved a practice exam for next September (am allowed to only apply for the final test after 8 months if I suceeded driving school, otherwise a year if I practiced on my own). This is it, in other words. Without any driving school education, I am out on my own to try and succeed!
I don't seem to have any problems with DX9 games. Far Cry runs fine on my rig. It puts some stress on the whole system.. I also didn't see a problem with PainKilled. I believe it's DX9 as well.. I still didn't get SSSE to laod yet. I haven't checked the forums out to see about it.. I think it's the SoundStorm on my board. It gets a Music file error at 67% installed & that's it. That's as far as I can get it.
I know I miss effects that are in DX9, but the games play & looks good.
I want to get the Geforce 6800.. I was looking the other day at newegg & they weren't available yet. Then it's gettin the $$$ for the card...
I've got a guy I'm going to build a A64 system for. Will be my first A64 machine. Looking forward to it.. I wish it was mine though..
Got my sons MOBO back from ASUS. I'm not sure they fixed it. Going to see today when I put it back together.. They said it was a SATA jumper on the ticket. I don't believe that for one minute, myself. I always shut off the SATA with the jumper, because we've never had SATA drives. Neither my Son or myself moved it since we put it together. If it's not fixed ASUS is getting a large piece of my mind & a board coming back to them.. It would be easier to go out & get a new board for $112, then mess with RMA.

I'm mulling over whether I want to play SSSE bad enough to temporarily swap the 9800pro to the TI4400 to see if it would play, my curiosity levels are high but I'm dual booting and swapping out and then later swapping back, and thats a lot of trouble which is leaning me towards the its not that important to me at the present time to play SSSE, if you understand what I'm saying.

That should be a hefty little chunk of money!

A SATA Jumper????????????????
I hope its fixed, its been a long time waiting for that thing!
Let me know what happens, even if its a PM situation, I'm curious.
I hope you end up in the YEE HAA mode, not the OH CRAP mode!
Well my Serious Sam Second Encounter problem is solved, thanks to Eden who suggested I check out the Gamesite Forums, the problem was so simple to solve and once I read the suggestions I knew what it was, I was running my ATI 9800 Pro in 8x AGP mode my system defaults to that when it auto detects the video card on the initial setup, I set it to 4x AGP and it rocks, problems are gone, Yee Haa, its time to kick some Serious Butt!
I have no clue. What is going on exactly? Tried forums about the game?
Thank You my friend, I found my answer in the Gamesite Forums, My 9800 Pro was running in 8X AGP mode and SSSE runs in 4x AGP mode, problem is solved. Thank You Again!!! Ry
