(Shooting the messenger) Um . . . what units are those prices in?
Surely he doesn't expect to get that many US dollars for most of what
he's selling.

Hey ... where else can you get a portable cassette
recorder for $300 ??
A rare opportunity.

Wow...
I too just sold a bunch of recording/musical gear and I was asking top
street prices, but this is ridiculous.
ADATS are about $200-300 all day long. Maybe $400 if you know it's in
great shape with low hours...and it's a 20 bit model.
$150 for the Alesis drum machine! How 'bout $149 brand new at
musiciansfriend.com right now.....
$10K for a 2" tape machine.....maybe in 1980.

Here's an idea. Drop an e-dime on him and let him know. Be nice. I doubt he
knows what the new reality is all about.

I have one in primo condition that I'm inclined to sell for $125. I have
several of the push-button and they're really fine little comps also.

Agreed. Though there are two versions of those too! One had a square
pushbutton, and the other had a round button. The most recent one, square
or round I can't remember, had a DBX VCA. The other one also had a Valley
People VCA, but different, and I think not quite as good, as the one in the
toggle switch version.

The only way you coulda got one for 10k in 1980 was if it had major
parts missing or your Italian friend got one "off the truck." (Hey,
it's Rhode Island here ;> )
My new 1/2" Otari 8 track cost me $5k in 1980.
And I liiiiked it.
