dvdrom only plays dvds ??

my hival dvdrom does not play anything else other then dvds ?? it doesn't play cdr cdrw vcds or even regular audio cds ?? it just reads the disc for about 5 seconds and then spits it back out ?? i've got it for about 3 months and it's been like that since ... anyone know whats wrong can help me out ???

Thats not right. did any drivers or software come with it? are they installed? try unistalling them then try reading, and try reinstalling them. it could possibly be a defective drive, too.

If its not broken, you're not trying hard enough.

all the dvdrom came with was a cd rom with an old version of powerdvd and the date and audio cables ... i thru the cdrom away cuz i had a updated version of powerdvd ....

Well, it might be a defective drive then. I can't offer any more help than that, sorry.

hehehe. Sounds like what happened to my pioneer 106S... but in reverse.
Reading CD's was fine, but DVD's wouldnt even be recognised.

Had to get it replaced... was just out of warantee as well :frown:
