Ubuntu Windows same network

Hello,
I am running my Ubuntu PC and a Windows PC on the same network and WiFi connection. I think that whenever I have both powered on, or even when locked, they cannot access the Internet. I cannot possibly have this problem persist, because we do not always turn our computers off, and use the Internet frequently. Productivity has been slowed down incredibly. Any suggestions?

I assume you're using a wireless *router* and not just a simple wireless AP? Make, model?
