I am trying to find out how to turn my old vinyl and tapes into MP3s on my computer. I was wondering if anyone knows a card I could buy with RCA hook ups i assume and a good peice of software to use for this process also? Hopefully the card/software wont be overly expensive, but if anyone knew where I could buy the card to do this would be a great help. Thanks

not sure what software is the best but i have recorded tapes onto my computer simply by using an rca to 1/8" stereo adapter plugged into the line input.
I just used the recording and editing program that came with my SB Live card. Worked fine. Havent converted them to mp3 but they will burn to cd although youll still get a little hiss from the tape.

If you use Noise reduction you can remove the "hiss" from your recordings.
My tape deck has noise reduction and I run it direct to my SB live card also, and get clean recordings.
