I have some backing tracks in Logic 7 to which I need to add vocals in
a studio with Protols HD3. Are there any conversion tricks that are
available, or am I going to have to do a mix of the tracks to a spilit
stereo file from Logic, import into Protools, dub the vocals, and
export discreet aiff vocal tracks from Protools to bring back into
Logic?
I'm not sure, but, I think that if you freeze the individual tracks in Logic
you can then import them individually into Protools.

You can do it that way, but then you'll spend some time getting together
a decent monitor mix in Protools, whilst you probably already have a mix
of the track going in Logic.
Taking the stereo mix you've already got to the Protools studio is
easier...and more fool-resistant (if you'd met some of the fools I've
met.....!), but less flexible.
If you anticipate the need to change the mix (drop parts, goose the
melody or rhythm, etc..) to help the singers do their parts, then take
the individual tracks.
Just consolidate each track to a single, continuous file starting from
bar 1, beat 1, using the same sample rate and bit depth of your original
session (write down this info, AND THE TEMPO on the CD, DVD, or hard
drive!).
Line them all up together in Protools, mix to taste, and get to work!

Anti-Spam email address in effect.
My real email should be pretty obvious to an actual human being.
Logic 7 Pro has the ability to bounce (on or off-line) each seperate audio
track, as an individual audio file ( in either mono, interleaved/stereo, or
split stereo ). I guess freezing would give the same results though.

But if I were you, I would just do a rough stereo mix out of Logic & import
to PT...it's basically just for reference anyway, for your vocal dubs.
