I'm looking for a good case for the new system I'm looking at getting. First I was thinking black, but after seeing some of the silver cases I think thats the way I want to go. Probably the best LOOKING cases I've seen so far are the Xaser II and III cases. BUT, are they any good? And noise is something I am considering so I wonder how quiet they are. If you DON'T recommend the case do you have a similar alternative?

I would like a silver case, alum.
Side window.
Front (or top) USB ports and a head phone jack.

Thanks in advance!

These are the same cases as Antec uses, both are Chieftec cases that have custom front panels. If you go to Newegg you'll find user reviews on many cases, look at your selection, plus Antec's aluminum model, plus Chieftec's aluminum case, and you'll get more reviews that way (since the metal is the same on all of them).

Theres one thing I didn't meantion. I'll be going with one of the new P4's when they come out with 800 FSB. I won't be OC'ing so perhaps I should be looking at a case with less fans? I want my system to be QUIET!

Edit: Theres 1 thing I JUST thought of. In all my thoughts of style, I never wondered if having a side window affected noise levels? Does 1 side window make for a noiser case? If so, by how much?
Edited by DarkmatterX on 04/17/03 03:35 AM.

I use the Xaser III V2000A and love it. A case based on the same Chieftech design by Enermax can be found at http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?description=11-124-034 for $75 instead of $200.

eBay, kick ass!

1.A side window does not make a case noisier.
2.You are ordered to overclock
3.The fans that Thermaltake bundles are SILENT but move hardly any air.

I have the Thermaltake Xaser II 6000A and I love it.

The case fans work wonders keeping all the inside components cool. My hard drives are about 10-15 degrees cooler than usual, the side fan blowing on my video card keeps that about 20 degrees cooler, and the rear exhausts help suck away the hot air and keep my cpu about 5 degrees cooler than usual.

It's also bloody quiet. I would swear that this aluminum case muffled sound better than my old steel case. I have all of these fans, plus my Thermaltake Smartfan II running full honking speed, and the noise isn't that bad.

I really like the case. Easily manoueverable inside, aesthetically pleasing, it's got it all. The only downside is a lack of a removable motherboard tray.
