Why does call forwarding cost 10 cents a min? When I was with Cell one you
got 400 min every month for it. Does it really cost them so much they have
to charge us or is there some other reason?
Thanks

Don't know. Verizon used to charge 15, but only in some markets. They finally
backed down and now you only get charged airtime no matter where you are -
actually, you get charged double airtime, but I'm ok with that, since there is
an incoming call *and* an outgoing call involved, and the cost to the customer
is still generally much less than 15 cents per minute (if you're not over your
minutes).

Short answer is - so they can make more money. I've had SPCS service
since July, 1997, and there's always been a .10 / min charge for Call
Forwarding.

Back then the plan was $75 / mo for 1500 AT min, and overages were only
..10 / min.

It costs that much most likely because call forwarding is one of those
things Sprint would rather you NOT do. And each cell carrier has their
way of discouraging it (except the small regional carriers like Cell
One, soon to be Alltel).

ATT charges $0.25 a minute for call forwarding. Conversely, Cingular has a
bolt-on which includes unlimited call forwarding for something like $3 a
month.
