Anyone here ever play an old game called, "Genghis Khan"?

In it you can play Khan, King Richard III, and some other dude (forgot
the name). And what you do is go around conquering the
provinces/countries of Europe, Asia, and northern Africa. Along the
way, you need to build up armies of soldiers, archers, etc, workout
(your physical abilities diminish with age), dispatch governors, and
collect mistresses.

Eventually, you'll die, so you better have sired some sons so that your
empire can continue. If you have daughters, you can marry them off to
one of your governors to make sure they don't turn on you. How do you
get heirs? Well that's where the mistresses come in. You have the
option of buying their love, romancing them, or raping them.

I'd think in today's game environment the choice to rape a character
would be taboo.

The "TOTAL WAR" series of games are basically modernized versions of
Koei's Genghis Khan/Nobunaga's Ambition, though you can't choose to
pump women specifically in the TW games, the kids just come out over
time.

The Khan game was originally made for the japanese market, so the 'game
environment' you're talking about is probably a plurality rather than
singular entity. Also, in later incarnations you made babies by
choosing 'Family time' from the menu (I think it was 2 action points
per chance to make a baby).

Koei still makes Romance of the Three Kingdoms games in which there are
'family time' options last I checked.
