Was messing around yesterday and hooked up my TV to the computer to watch some movies I downloaded (connected with S-Video adapter to RCA, to VCR to TV.) Video looked great, only problem was that the volume was extremely weak.
Anyway I ran a line from the speaker-out and split it into two RCA for audio, which connected to the VCR, then to the TV. I turned the computer volume up, turned the TV volume up, and could barely hear anything (maybe 20% volume level.) I messed around with WAV and other volumes, only to fail.
The board is an Asus A7N8X deluxe, I'm assuming the reason the volume was weak is because the TV is having to convert the digital audio to analog, correct? Is there any settings I can change so that the computer does all the work, or some other way so I can get the full audio through the TV speakers instead of my computer speakers?
Thanks for your time and help, I greatly appreciate it.
Did you turn up the wav playback volume as well as the main volume? Usually it's set to 1/3 the max volume, by default. As you can guess, this is pretty quiet. You gotta crank them both.
I've found that most movies I download have pretty weak volumes. In games, I have my stereo at about -40dB, while movies I need to go as high as -20dB to get an equivalent level of sound. That's a pretty high increase.
Bah it was just a problem with the software. Whenever I was playing video, it would reset the WAV volume down to like 10% and crank the main volume, then when the program shut down it reset the WAV volume to full and the main volume to whatever it was at.
Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't notice the volume changes until now. Finally got this crap workin!
