I have a Sanyo 7400 and would like to access the test mode and the hidden
menus. On an LG phone it is possible to enter test mode with "menu 0000000".
What is the key sequence to enter test mode on the Sanyo 7400? Is there a
website that provides information on how to enter test mode for all
manufacturers of cell phones?

This info has appeared in other newgroups like alt.cellular.verizon.
It sounds to me like a FAQ needs to be created. The information is
out there, but it is scattered all over the net. Wouldn't it be nice
to find it all in one place?

How is this information obtained? Is there a special manual that I can order
from Sanyo?

No, there isn't ... It's not something that either Sanyo or SPCS wants you
to do ... There is a way to do it, but I don't remember the specific steps.

You can check out the message forums on http://www.sprintusers.com. There are numerous "secret codes" listed there for various Sprint
phones.
The code to bring up some test and diagnostic menus for the Sanyo
MM7400 is ##debug# (##33284#). Please note that fooling around with
the settings in these menus could foul up the operation of your phone.

I don't know about the 7400, but on Sprint PCS Sanyos thru the 8100,
here's the sequence for entering field debug mode:
1. Dial "##040793"
2. Hit Menu/OK
3. Select "Save Phone#"
4. Choose "1-Screen"
Unfortunately, when the phone is in standby mode, this shows you nothing
useful. However, when a call is in progress, it shows a couple of
numbers useful for locating a cell site - the PN Offset that identifies
the cell site and the signal strength in -dBm (-40 you're very close,
-70 is good, -90 is fair, -100 is poor).
