My friend has a Verizon account and phone. Can I send her text
messages? (SMS). If so, How?

From your Sprint phone, all you need to do is address your SMS to her
10 digit Verizon number. The network will automatically detect if the
nuber is not on the Sprint number, and route it accordingly (VeriSign
handles intercarrier SMS for most wireless companies).
