Bhow to install wifi for mobile divices

I would like to connect my Kindle Fire and Windows Surf to the internet using WiFi (neither device has an enernet port or CD player). The room I am renting has a modem. I bought a Netgear WiFi. The first thing the directions say is to install the CD that comes with it. As I said, neither divice had a CD, so do I take th Netgear WiFi back to the store or will it work by connecting it to the modem and forget about the CD that came with it?

What exactly is this "Netgear WiFi"? Is it a Router? Read the rest of the instructions, do they say how you can connect to the WiFi without running the full setup? If you can't, you need to get a regular computer to setup the device first.

Thanks! Your solution is exactly what I discovered by trial and error. If your device does not have a CD player, you are out of luck in setting up a new wifi router. Fortunately, I also had a laptop that has a CD player with me. I set up the router with that first and then connected to the devices that do not had a CD player.

You don't need the CD to setup the router, you can do so by connecting to it though the web browser and just set what you need in the configuration web page.
