Has anyone heard anything about the new Equitek Mics (specifically the
200 and 350). It seems they were 'announced' almost five months ago
and I haven't heard a thing?

I think they've been around longer than that. Are they anything more than
repackaged versions of the old mics?

There seems to be very little buzz surrounding CAD microphones in general.

Geez, I thought those were old models, but that's what I get for
looking at manufactuers who change the model number slightly and call
it a new model.

Five months "lead time" is nothing in this business. Often products
are "introduced" a year to eighteen months before they're in the
pipeline.

I have two E-100s, an E-200 and an E-300 (discontinued), as well as an
original CAD-95 hand-held condenser... and I'm thoroughly delighted with
the lot of them. I heard the newer E-350 from a year or so back, and I'm
not so sure that it's quite as impressive as the 300. All of these mics are
around six or seven years old and built like tanks. All three Equitek mics
all have a little battery circuit, take phantom, and to me sound good.

Isn't it curious? One will rarely find anything bad being said about them
and yet they get mentioned much less frequently compared to other brands.
It's been like that even before the invasion of cheap chinese mics.

The Peavey syndrome?

I understand that the likes of Sanken, Nevaton etc.don't spring up in
discussions often as they are rather obscure or expensive or both. But
what's wrong with CAD/Equitek?

I don't know about the 200, but the 350 has been around for a year or two
and it is definitely a very different capsule than their older mikes.
