I've got a small problem here. I'm running Windows XP Pro and some of my hardware/software are having issues with it. I am switching back to Windows 2000 Pro pretty soon and don't want to lose most of the stuff in my 'Documents and Settings' folder, primarily my several hundred e-mails from Outlook Express. I have been making backups of everything I don't want to lose using the built in Windows backup utility. My question is this: would Windows 2000 Pro be able to restore my back-up files created in Windows XP Pro? If not, what (free) backup utility do you suggest I use to save everthing while converting back to another OS? Thanks.

you're talking about ntbackup? If so, it hasn't changed in a while. 2K will be able to restore them.

if its just outlook express emails you are bothered about, find inbox.dbx and back that up, then when you install 2k, put it back.
