I am wondering if it is possible to download to a computer the pictures
and short movies that this phone is capable of capturing?

I'm assuming I need at least a cable, do I also need some sort of
software too?

Try either Susteen Datapilot w/ a cable cheaper to buy from J&R Audio
than Susteen or else where.

Other options are bitpim.org which has free software but you will need
a cable, I think the Datapilot option w/ the free bitpim is a good way
to go.
