My Hd is no longer recognised by computers. I came home from school, and my computer case had a magnet stuck to the side, and my hd is no longer being detected. I've heard something about special "servo" sectors, could these have been damaged by a magnet a few inches(just a weak fridge magnet) away? If they were.. how do I get my HD working again? I don't care about the data..

It is unlikely that a fridge magnet has done this, unless it's a huge thing. It is far more likely something else has happened.

1) Does it spin up?
2) Can you hear the heads home?
3) Are you sure the cables are all connected properly?
4) Have you tried re-detecting it in BIOS?

IF you've done all this, you could get the low level formatter for it. Most manufacturers have them on their websites for situations like yours.

But no promises here... It's likely toast.
