Hi;
I just wanted to get an opinion(s) on the following.
I just built a system using an Aopen case and Aopen 300w power supply.
The P/S's model # is ATX 300GU, and it has the following specs on the side of it: +3.3v-20A, +5v-30A, +12v-13A, along with +3.3V & +5V=175W Max.
The MB is an Asus A7N266-VM and I am using the boards' integrated sound and video (no cards). The system also has 1 hard drive, floppy, dvd-rom drive and a cd burner, and a CPU fan and 1 case fan. The processor is a Duron 1000 and it has 1 256mb stick of ram.
That's about it.
It runs fine, but I was a little concerned because it seems most people think that 350w is a minimum these days, and also I don't know how good/bad Aopen PS's are.
Any opinions?
Thanks.

AOpen power supplies are made by PowerMan and are usually very good quality. Most have thermally controlled fans and safety shutdown circuits that prevent major disasters.

350watts should be more than adequate for your system.

If you want to keep an eye on it put in either MBPROBE or MBMonitor and set them up to alarm if the temperatures, fans or voltages go astray.

Here's a link for MBProbe, which is free...

Read the instructions, it takes a little setting up but it works very well.

Thanks for the reply, Teq.
OK, the board comes with Asus' "Asusprobe", where I can check voltages.
It shows me getting the following: +12v = 12.096, +5v = 4.999, and +3.3v = 3.36.
Do those voltage figures sound OK?
Thanks.

Yep... so long as they are within plus or minus 5% of ideal, you're fine.

eg. 5% of 5 == .25 so 5 - .25 == 4.75 to 5 + .25 == 5.25 is fine for the 5 volt.

I'm sure you can work the others out on your own :smile:

OK, Teq,
Appreciate your replies. I guess that 300w Aopen PSU is enough for my kind-of-lightweight sytem, judging by the numbers.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
