New Speakers - don't care about sub

I'm looking for new desktop speakers. I don't use my system to power some Frankenstein machine of audio/visual/computer parts. In fact, having a sub woofer sitting on the floor thumping away seems almost as silly as a halo of speakers giving me the illusion that a TIE fighter just flew past me. I just need good speakers that can play my Gershwin while I work and rock my Aerosmith when I'm done.
