Eny of you tried this fan? I wanna exchange my existing PSU for a much quiter one. I have an older system running a pIII 600Mhz and don't have any temperature sensors in my PC. Just curious at what temp does a typical setup run at?
Since the RPM on the fan increase with temp, how does it know at what temp to keep the system at?

It knows because if you want to take adavantage of the thermal monitoring, you will have placed a thermistor beneath the cpu, between the cpu and the socket. It adjusts its speed based on the temp. However, if you run the cpu very hot, the fan get's pretty loud. If you don't overclock, however, the chip should be pretty cool. If you think the fan is still going too fast, you can attach a little dial to adjust the fan speed manually.
I like it. It moves a lot of air at top speed, keeping my oc'ed computer nice and cool.

well, basically the cooler a system runs - the better. as for the SmartFan2, check thermaltake's website and see the specs for the fan, then you'll know what the cfm and rpm ratings are for the different temps
