I have a Abit Nforce 2 board , I have 1 x 512 corsair xms pc3200 ram , curious , can you use a 256mb module if made by same co. & specs for dual channel mode or does it have to be the same size.
i.e. 1x512
1x256 , both corsair xms pc3200 & same timings
I can get the 256 dirt cheap from a friend , or should I spend a little more & get another 512

You can use it for Dual DDR but the amount accessed in Dual DDR mode will only be 512MB. The other 256MB will be accessed in normal DDR mode. If you get another 512MB memory module, you'll have 1024MB in Dual DDR mode and none of it accessed in normal DDR mode. The best choice would be to get another 512MB memory module.
