Building my new rig when all the parts come tomorrow but silly me forgot i need a wifi adapter. I have never used wifi on a desktop and was wondering if I could get some suggestions on a possible adapter to get. My router itself is a bit out dated and plan on upgrading that as well pretty soon to so feel free to suggest a combo or one or the other if you want. Thanks. oh and by the way running a cable isn't an option seeing as how im in the attic and the modem is 4 floors away. Thanks again for the advice!

If I was building a new rig I would equip it with the latest wireless system (802.11ac). I am assuming that since your rig is new, you have a PCIe slot available. In that case, I would use this wireless adapter:

I would also plan on buying this router:

You can definitely get by a lot cheaper than that though. It all depends on what your needs are. Maybe all you need is wireless g equipment and can pick up a router and wireless adapter for about $35 total. I have a spare wireless g pci adapter that I can send to you for $10. If you are an enthusiast and like to keep up with the latest technology, the equipment that I referenced above will provide the best in a stable, high-speed signal, and help to future-proof your system for a while.
