I am curious if the talked about comparison of the Onyx/Crest pres and
EQ's was ever done. I believe Rodger Norman and Mike Rivers were
considering such an event.
I cant' get my hands on the Crest here. I like to hear about the
results.

Nope. It hasn't stopped raining here and Roger is still bailing
his deck. Besides, what do you expect? That we'll be able to
say that one is clearly better than the other? I'd be very surprised
if this is the case.

Which one would you buy if there was no significant difference in the
mic preamps? And why?

That's easy: the one with the full-size faders! <g>

SOLD!!!! To the man with the fat fingers. I think that's a fairly good
reason to make a decision, probably better than any marginal
difference between the preamps.

Assuming price is not a factor, of course.

When dealing with "professional" and "CD quality" of course money is
no object.

I really think that ergonomics is very important though. All other
things being pretty close to equal, the console that isn't going to
remind you that the faders are too small or the knobs are in the wrong
place is the one to buy.
