Hey all,

I am having problems producing actual sound from all 5 satellites in games unless I do PL2 decoding, when I set my decoder to "6-channel direct" with my audigy 2, and in games, when I enable EAX3 (GTA3) and EAX, I only seem to be getting 3.1 sound (center, two fronts).

Is there anything in EAX console that I may have inadvertently turned on to screw things up so as to deactivate 5.1 gaming? I have audio cleanup on, and CMSS off in EAX control panel. Thanks in advance.

Did you set your speaker settings to use 5.1 in windows sound and volume control?

Yes, windows control panel is always at 5.1.

However, it appears every time i restart my computer, my EAX control panel resets to 2.1 or 4.1 for no particular reason. Even if I manually set it back to 5.1 I dont get discrete sound from EAX3 in games until I restart my computer. Sometimes after a reset, it stays in 5.1 and I can game, otherwise its back at 2.1 or 4.1 and i have to set it to 5.1, and restart again.

This is tedious, why the heck doesnt Creative have a "save settings" option on their Audigy 2 drivers? -.-

I assume you're running those speakers digitally; the Audigy2 does not have a real-time digital encoder in it. You can't do what you want to do with that card. The card can stream audio that's already encoded (DVD playback, for example), but it can't generate the stream.

BTW, for AMD-types, the Soundstorm nForce2 motherboards do. That's one of the reasons for differentiating Soundstorm from standard nForce2. Don't forget that this audio system was designed for the XBox.

Hmmm.... you said it actually works sometimes? Maybe I have to research some more...
Edited by Traqr on 05/02/03 11:53 AM.
