I don't think my phone, VGA1000, can handle multimedia, but I might change
phones later. My contract with Sprint doesn't end until May, 2006, but I
can get $150 rebate & a new phone in Nov, 2005.
I was just exploring the multimedia and have a couple of questions.
-just to make sure, will the VGA1000 handle multimedia. I couldn't find
this option anywhere.
-if I get a multimedia phone later, is the multimedia option part of the
standard Vision package that I now have ($15/mo)? Or is it optional at
extra cost?
-if I later acquire a Readylink phone, is Readylink part of the standard
Vision package?
I have had Sprint for about a year, and for the most part, I like the Sprint
service. They aren't perfect, but none are. I will probably stay with
them. My wife has Treo 600 and she likes it a lot.

There is no multimedia option, per se... I speak from experience, having just
bought a VGA1000 (finally!)
Multimedia, however, entails many things. You can take and share photos with
the built-in camera (that's multimedia); you can download ringtones and
wallpaper (that too), and you can download Vision-compatible Java applications
and games.

Now that I have a camera phone, I'm curious about this too. Does the $15
package include sharing pictures and sending MMS? What about if I pay the $10
for unlimited Vision without the download credits?

No. (I knew the answer to this one ;> )

Yeah, the Treo's a neat little gadget, but PDA phones are expensive - and I
cart around my laptop quite a bit and therefore don't need another device that
runs Microsoft Outlook.

yep, i knew about the picture taking and all, but i was curious about live
TV on the phone. That might be nice.
but i have never downloaded anything, ringtones, etc. Do I have a $10
credit every months for downloads?
BTW, what kind of Java applications are available?
we have $15 Vision because my wife uses Treo for business purposes. The $15
package includes unlimited picture sharing; also 100 messages/month.

You can start by checking the Sprint website. Sprint PCS Vision phones run
Java2 Mobile Edition. Many J2ME applications will work even if they weren't
originally meant for Sprint phones, and Sprint isn't the only place where you
can get them. Being a Java programmer myself, I started with J2ME by writing a
simple Tic Tac Toe game which I uploaded to my prior phone. It should also run
fine on the VGA1000... :>
