When formatting audio disk, what allocation size should I use?

Likely the default unless you have some extraordinary situation
(which which you did not mention).

Depending on OS and disk size, etc. default
may be only 4k.
I believe audio drives like larger clusters.
I use 16k or 32k on smaller drives and
64k on larger drives.

And depending on whether he is storing lots of small
files (SFX, etc.) or big long-form recordings, etc, etc,
dozens of details not mentioned in the original question.
