The ads seem to be touting the mics for broadcast voice. Have you tried
them on vocals?

Steve,
I haven't seen the ad, but the Heil mic I have is better for guitar cabs
than it is for vocals.

Steve,
I have the Heil PR20, which kicks butt for guitar cabinets.
Bear in mind that both reviews are written from the perspective of an
amateur radio operator since Heil has, up until now, been marketing mics
primarily for that audience. However, it is my understanding that the PR40
works especially well on vocals as well as drums.

Nice guy. I reviewed several of his mics a year or so ago. I think at least
one review is up in my archives.

I had a sample of the first model. It was *extremely* sensitive to p-pops,
also handling noise. And it had a classic boom-and-tizz frequency response,
with poorer articulation (on a dance caller) than an old EV 660. We sent it
back. Possibly the newer ones are improved.

Given his Joe Walsh connection, I think so
