Getting used to XP

I have Me right now and it just totally is horrible. It frequently freezes, errors get reported to me quite often, and it does not opperate to my standards. What I can say about WinMe is it is not reliable. I am going to upgrade soon to WinXP Professional version, but is it going to take me a while to get used to it? Will I get more out of it then Me, is it alot more reliable? Thanks.

The differences in Windows XP aren't as major as you think. You can turn off all the extra eye candy if you want and make it look like Windows Me. Yes, it's much more reliable than Windows Me, because it has no 16-bit code. It's all based upon the WinNT kernel.

The OS will be a toy for the first few days, but after that you should be used to it.

Considering the hell that you're going through right now with WinME, I wouldn't worry about getting used to XP since you'll enjoy every minute of it.

You will be much happier with WinXP. It will be nice escaping from the
hell of ME.

At first, Nt will chew up all kinds of resources. It will seem slower, and use a lot more memory.

After you learn to turn off a *whole bunch* of "services", it will settle down into a faster OS.
