I'm looking for a good, *cheap* suggestion regarding some sort of
replacement for my ADAT-PCR card. Seeing as how that card is unusable
with the NT-based versions of Windows, I'm looking for a way to connect
at least 1 of my two ADAT's to a PC (for dumping & processing tracks)
with current or slightly older products. Not sure what's come on the
market lately, as I've spent the past 3 years parenting :) With the
current price of diapers, and needing a fret job on my Strat as well, I
have limited funds to splurge on this, but I'd like to explore it.

RME 9636 card, Hammerfall (older) or HDSP (newer) series.

This may be the cheapest lightpipe interface out there at about
$300.00:

Frontier Design WaveCenter/PCI
PCI Digital Audio Card with ADAT Optical, S/PDIF Optical and Coaxial,
and MIDI

MOTU & Presonus have outbaord interfaces with ADAT but are more
expensive. You would still have to record into the computer in
real-time but at least you'd have no D>A converters to go through and
you should be able to get 8 tracks transferred at a time. I found this
at the Sweetwater site but I'm sure it is also available in other
places.
