How to assign static ip for access

there are two ways to do it. you can either assign a static ip address in the computer itself in the tcp/ip settings of the network adaptor, or you can do it at the router level. you might as well do it in the router because you have to forward ports from the router to the computer as well. The ports you need to forward depend on what application you intend on accessing remotely.
