Soldiers, families to get calling cards as part of settlement
June 7, 2005 - 4:49PM
(NEWS 3) - Military personnel from Michigan and their families will
get $300,000 worth of long distance telephone calls from Sprint
Communications as part of a legal settlement between the state and the
company, Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced..
Thirty-thousand calling cards will be distributed to Marine and Army
personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and to their families in the
United States.
The state will receive $1.2 million in cash and donated products from
Sprint after the company was found to be illegally switching residents'
long distance services, a practice known as "slamming."
