I had read a review which indicated that when on a call with the 650, it
can't be used as a Palm, i.e. browsing through contacts, taking notes
etc. Is this true?

You know, I REALLY hate when I read a review and it becomes glaringly
clear that the reviewer didn't ACTUALLY have the item s/he was reviewing
in his or her hands. The review you read is probably one of those cases.
You CAN use the Treo 650 as a PDA while on the phone. I do it all the
time. You can even send and receive SMS messages while in the middle of
a call, in addition to looking at other apps, taking notes, looking
through the directory, adding calendar appointments, etc.
The only thing you cannot do with the Treo while in a call is browse the
web, check e-mail you haven't already downloaded or do anything that
requires PCS Vision access, but this is a limitation imposed by the
network (sprint), not the device.
