hi, i want to buy a dvd writer but which format is best ?
i want a format which works with most dvd players ..so dvd players are compatible which format dvd-r or dvd+r . iam looking at a pioneer dvr-a05 is it good ?

Why not get both formats in same DVD writer? Sony and now Liteon makes DVD writers that support both formats. BTW, the Pioneer dvr-a05 supports only DVD-R/W.

Some standalone DVD players are compatible with DVD-R/W while others will only support DVD+R/W. Check out <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php" target="_new">this site</A> which has a compatibility list of all DVD players.

The Pioneer is a good burner. What I was trying to say is that it only supports DVD-R/W, and you need to check whether your standalone player is compatible with this format.
