DirectWire: am I missing something?

I want to record from Windows Media Player to Wavelab and Cubase.
First Wavelab: As instructed in the directwire manual (example WinAmp
to Wavelab) I connected the ins and outs of the MME, but no
results....


And when I connect the MME to Asio to record Windows Media Player to
Cubase SX2, I get a sort of shortcut, with my audio output meter (in
the transport bar) to its maximum, but without a sound coming through
my speakers.


Actually, what I wanted is recording a Skype telephone conversation,
with both my and the other voice recorded. Too difficult?


Who could help me out?
