Trying to improve wireless signal but the AT&T equipment only support 8012.11 b/g. I like to upgrade to 802.11n. Any advise.

Depends what you mean improve. 802.11n does not actually transmit more radio power than 802.11g. It just encode the bits into the signal using a different method.

To a point this methodology allows more speed but it is mostly since 802.11n allows more bits to be encoded and if I lose 1/2 then half of a 802.11n signal lost is still more usable data than 1/2 of a 802.11g signal.

Hard to say if going to 802.11n will help or not. You must upgrade everything to 802.11n even one older devices will force your new router to run in compatibility mode and you will see little difference.

If you have strong signal and just want more performance then 802.11n will do that
