there are spot mics on some of the cymbals -A number of engineers (and
drummers) will do that...

What you're missing visually is an apparently non-cobbled off-white-painted
(mics and star-mount the same finish) 5-identical mics (look like somebody's
beercan) hung on a 5-armed radial holder mounted at a single OH point, all
mics in a sort of pentagonal array over the drummer's head.

Do I recall those "beer can mics" might be Brauner VM1's? Some years
back at an AES show the ATMOS 5.1 rig was so loaded.
