I have searched high and low on the internet but I can't find actual stores that actually sell the hardware and media to burn a DVD-9 disk. I have read a lot of information, but I can't find the physical stuff. Is it just not available to the public? Or is it far to expensive so it isn't readily available. How much does it cost if it is available. I thought I would be able to find something.

Currently no DVD burner supports DVD-9, ie. no burner can write to any double layer DVD's. And I don't think dual layered burners will appear on the market soon considering the fact the DVD recording is still a very new technology.

As Eltz said, and the fact DVD9 discs are pressed to make the dual layer as far as I know. The machines that make DVD9 would be mega expensive and only affordable by big production houses.
You can use a few programs such as <A HREF="http://www.dvdxcopy.com/" target="_new">DVD-Xcopy</A>, <A HREF="http://www.dvd2one.com/" target="_new">DVD2ONE</A> and <A HREF="http://www.dvddecrypter.com/" target="_new">DVD decrypter</A> which are all excellent in making a DVD9 dual layer DVD into one DVD5 (4.7GB DVD disc)and are my personal favorites. I also use the latest Nero burning software, real easy.

You can find more info here at <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/guides?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=&osselect=&howtoselect=6;30&search=Search" target="_new"> DVDRhelp.com</A> and also <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/144206.php" target="_new">here</A>.
Once you have figured out the way you want to do it you can get most of the tools/programs <A HREF="http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tools" target="_new"> here.</A>

DVD-9 discs are dual-layer and no burner can burn a dual-layer disc. The layers are produced separately and pressed together. That's why you cannot find blank DVD-9 media (or burners).

Interesting. I had no idea that process occurred after the burn. I had read in numerous places that that was how they produced a dual layer, but I didn't realize the information was already there when they did the press. It sort of seems like a hack-job to make a dual layered disk if I am understanding correctly. Thank you.
