Game will crash (locks up my system with repeated sound loops) when I first start to play the game from the beginning. Starts at the house with the flags, then moves to inside the house and starts to zoom down into a room where there is a ceiling fan and a man at a desk. About 1 or 2 seconds into the room sequence the game freezes with a stuck sound loop.

I have read all the suggestions and implement them all to see if it would resolve the problem, but not such luck. This is the ONLY game I have a problem with and even the Demo of Return to Castle Wolfenstein works correctly. However the full purchased products does NOT work.

I have Two computers with the exact same problem:

Computer One:
OS: Windows ME (latest patches applied)
Sound Card: Creative Labs Audilogy X-Gamer (latest drivers)
Video Card: VisionTek (GeForce3) with Detonator v23.11 drivers
Hard Disk: IBM 7,200 UDMA66 45GB
Memory: Crucial PC2100 512MB (2 X 256)
Motherboard: ASUS A7A266 BIOS 1009, PCB Rev 1.03
CPU: AMD T-Bird 1.33Ghz

Computer Two:
OS: Windows XP (latest patches applied)
Sound Card: Creative Labs Audilogy X-Gamer (latest drivers)
Video Card: VisionTek (GeForce3) with Detonator XP v23.11 drivers
Hard Disk: IBM 7,200 UDMA66 45GB
Memory: Crucial PC2100 512MB (2 X 256)
Motherboard: ASUS A7A266 BIOS 1009, PCB Rev 1.03
CPU: AMD XP 1900+

I've seen others with the exact same problem also.

Try nVidia detonator 21.81 or below. I could not use 23.11 under Windows ME without it crashing under 3DMarks 2001 until I switched to 21.81. Don't know but your problem may be an instance of the nVidia "infinite loop" bug.

RTCW works fine for me using 23.11 and Windows XP on my nForce system.

I also had this problem, but I managed to solve it after awhile (long story).
Well, have you checked http://www.ViaArena.Com?

Try these:
4in1 4.37v(a)
AGP410 driver (this one solved my problem)
Also, as it states in the text, don´t install the VIA sounddrivers if your´e using a third party soundcard.

Good luck!
