I'll be upgrading soon, getting a new mobo and RAM for my Athlon rig. I know I'll be getting the MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR mobo, still haven't decided on the RAM yet. I will be using dual channels and want to use CAS 2 timings. Which type of RAM should I get? I'm leaning towards Corsair TWIN-X 512-3200LL. Will be using XP 2700+ cpu, going to o/c and want FSB and RAM in sync.

Here are the specs of what I will be getting:

- MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR mobo (rev.2)
- Athlon XP 2700+
- RAM still undecided
- Radeon 9700 Pro (soon to be 9800 Pro 256MB)
- 2x Western Digital Raptor 36GB 10,000RPM SATA in RAID 0
- SoundStorm Onboard audio with Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 Speakers

How does that look? Any guesses on what it will get in 3DMark?

* PC3200LL TwinPack is a great choice for this build.

* If you're going to upgrade the graphics card, may want to take a look at the nVidia GeForceFX 5900 Ultra. There are threads about it in the graphics card forum.

* Love the RAID 0 raptor idea.;)

* I would substitute a 2500+ Barton for CPU since you're overclocking. Could make a push for 1GB of memory with the money saved by making this substitution.

* For speakers, may want to check out the Klipsch and high-end Logitech solutions.

Unfortunately, I already own the Creative speakers and the Athlon XP 2700+. If I knew about that when I was purchasing my parts, I would have gone a different route. Plus, the Barton wasn't available when I bought the CPU.

I heard some bad things about OCZ, "OCZ is a fraud. It's not even what it's marked as, it's usually just generic memory that's rebadged . . . you'll be suprised when you find that what you were told was pc2700 cl2 is nothing more than generic pc2100." Has anyone had any experience with OCZ memory? Is this statement true?

All great advice!
Thanx!;)
Athlon XP 2700+
2700+ is a very fast processor. Didn't know you already had it. Not a bad purchase at all.:D

I don't know really. May be able to find some old threads about this in the memory forum. I imagine OCZ's newest stuff is of good quality but I prefer Corsair XMS.
