My brother wants me to build him a gaming computer. For him money is not a big issue. He wants a LCD monitor. I have been hearing that for gaming LCD's are not a very good choice. So my question is: is there a 19-21in LCD that will preform aleast as good as the average CRT?
Again, for him, (bastard) money is not a big issue.

Well, if money is no issue why not a top of the line P4, a gig of RAM, Nvidia 6800 Ultra, Raptor 10k drives etc?

And go for the new 23" Apple LCD. But I'd find a review on it first just to be sure. But it looks nice. I'd say the LCDs are getting pretty good these days. By fall for sure you'll find a nice one.

TOMS, it's been much longer than the "every month" LCD reviews you promised us. You've been averaging every two months or longer here. please?

Planed on atleast a gig of RAM. We are going the AMD 64FX rout though. When PCIe comes out with the with a board that will support 2 slots he wants dual Nvidia 6800 Ultra or the new card at the time. with 2 Raptor 10k drives in RAID, maybe 0 havent decided yet. then maybe another larger drive for storage. I think I have most of it put together in my head atleast. save 3 or so iteams. Monitor, he wants it water cooled. and case. As far as monitor, he does not want the biggest. Just something in the mid to larger range that will preform well. Not too much ghosting ect..

That'll be a great system I'm sure. I don't have the cash for anything close to that at the moment but someday....

So back to my original question, what do i need to be looking for in buying a LCD monitor? I think I found something good with Dell. 20in 1600X1200pix 60hz response time of 16ms and a 500:1 contrast. He mostly plays RPG games, so ghosting is not to much of a problem, just want him to be able to play faster games if he choices.

The dell 2001fp is a great choice. Nothing can touch it for size, price, or performance (right now).
