Serial ATA Help please!!

Ok, I'm probably a complete dope, but here goes anyway...
I've just purchased an Asus 7N8X dlx motherboard with SATA onboard. So far I only have standard IDE devices to hook onto it (DVD, Burner, 2HDs). So, all my IDE's are full. Is it possible to then also hook devices to the SATA (more HD's for instance)? Or is it Either IDE or SATA and not both together?

They should both work. Even after you move to SATA for your HD needs, you will need to continue using IDE for CDRW and DVD.

However what I'd like to know is if I have all my IDE's full (two HD's, cd and dvd) can I also hook up extra HD's on the SATA, so effectivly have two more HD's (for instance) next to the ones on IDE?
I hope that makes sense...lol
