I've got an old Beyer M88 and can't locate the cable for it. I guess I
should probably grab a spare even if I do end up finding this one.
Does anyone know where I can find one in the States? I'd rather not
have to wait for one to ship from Europe.
Thanks,
m

Just an FYI....I had seen all of Scott's suggestions to call
Sennheisher/Neumann and did that this morning. The person I spoke to
kept asking for a part number and couldn't find anything for me. Is
there a specific person or group that I need to speak with? Neumann?
Sennheiser?
Thanks,
m

Sennheiser parts department stocks the connectors if you want to make
your own. They might also stock complete cables.

Beyerdynamic US used to stock complete cables and may still.

Ask for the Sennheiser parts department. There is one old guy there
who works on the MKH104-series mikes. He's the first guy I'd ask.

Got a connector....no luck on the complete cable. Just to help
everyone out and make the process easier, when calling Sennheiser USA,
here is the part number for the small connector. For reference, this
is the one that will go on a MD421n.
The part number is US09-0006-05-03. This is just for the female screw
on piece that fits on the end of the mic. You'll still need to attach
a mic cable to this with an xlr at the other end.

Later,
m

We can, of course, build one for you. 3-pin Tuchel? US$21 + US$1.00 per foot.
All I need is pin out and lenghth.

Do NOT assume the pin numbering is identical to the one in the XLR plug.
The DIN standard is, unless my memory is faulty - I can not remember it
ever having so been ... O;-) ... as follows:

Pin 1 HOT Pin 3 RETURN.

(Pin 4) (Pin 5) <= If available, relevant for stereo,
be it symmetric one way or
Pin 2 GROUND unsymmetric two way ....

/* symmetric == balanced, remember if dealing with german specs */

Check the pin numbering in the actual connector, male and female of
course have mirror image number placements .... pins 4 and 5, if
available, are very interesting in terms of balanced and unbalanced
stereo, the latter being a two way cable.
