Just thought I'd say this here, I've been asked to write some articles on computer hardware for a local, world famous, dead tree game magazine. For Dutch or Belgian readers, if you pick up the september issue of PCGameplay, you should find my first article on 64 bit computing (anyone surprised about the topic ? :). Coming up next are PCI-E and overclocking.

I might also start doing actual product reviews (cpu/motherboards/videocards) though that will depend if I can spare the time -these things cost tons of time, and its not like writing them pays a fortune. Still, I found it sort of nice to be able to do what I do here in a magazine, and get my GF6800 for free. :D

Mmmmm a GF6800 for free? you lucky you. (not really for free though if you put in hard work for it).

I'm a PCZone subscriber (dutch edition) so I will have to do with your service on THWF

The problem with magazine articles is that they go uncontested while the best part here is the bickering between you guys.

I bought a few copies of PCGameplay in the past btw. I feel that the reviews in PCZone are more often on the mark (a personal opinion of course, but that is why I read them) but the hardware articles are better in PCGameplay.

Yeah real hard work like just translating some of my posts here and elsewhere :p

Very true, but the good part is you get to address an audience that isn't nearly as knowledgeable on average, and therefore in dire need of some good, condensed info. Those people also don't care about 1 or 2% left or right, which makes it much more "real world".

Besides, its obvious that much of the feedback/discussion on places liks this or Aces', gets used to create the articles in the first place and I don't intend to do "Omid style" articles either ;) You're right though when it comes to benchmarking or reviewing products, its a bit more difficult to update your article based on readers feeback :)

Funny, I thought the exact opposite (even though i've not read a lot of PCZone). Most hardware articles in PCGP I've read where borderline useless (rehashed PR statements), especially about cpu's. Oh well, neither magazine aims to be a C't, so i can forgive them I guess. But I've bought all my games based on PCGP reviews with my eyes closed really, never been dissapointed. But as you said, a personal opinion obviously..
