Buying or not buying an Acer? HELP!

Hi. I'm a college student and I'll buy my first notebook. I'll use it basically for MS Office, internet, DVD movies. I don´t want to expend more than U$S 800, an I think Acer Aspire 3613WLCI (http://www.superwarehouse.com/Acer [...] 7/p/624004 ]) is a good option, what do you think?
I was reading that Acer notebooks have usually hardware problems :thumbdown , so Toshiba (for example) is a better option. It's that true? Thanks!
