Hello GUYS
My first post on TH ....heard it was useful...so m using a dv 5 1106 ax running win 7 64 bit, the windows goes on to boot and after sometime just hangs no mouse inputs,no c+alt +del nothing....and when i try to boot with a usb ubuntu live it does not get past the first screen "Hp INVENT" and if i remove the pendrive it agains goes on to windows. even changed the boot order but no avail! PLS HELP IS something wrong with the bios?

well the fact that you are unable to boot from a usb thumbdrive may be unreleated to your windows problem. see if you can boot from Ubuntu LiveCD instead of thumbdrive. you may also need to do a repair or installation of windows.

Here are detailed step by step instructions with pictures:

How Do I Use the Windows System Restore Utility?
How Do I Perform a Startup Repair or Repair Installation of Windows?
How Do I Perform a Clean Installation of Windows?

Also there is SFC How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
