Hi, can anyone help me? I can't seem to run any games on my notebook.
Tried installing 'Hot Wheels' World Race and a message says 'Processor-
Unknown P6 family not supported. Hardware failed.' My notebook's using
x86 family 6 Model 9 Stepping 5 Genuine Intel ~599Mhz processor.
Is this a lousy processor that can't even play a simple game?

You can find additional information on your CPU with CPU Z and "Everest" link 1 and link 2.
I would not regard your CPU as "lousy," the 599 MHz clock may be SpeedStep in action ("EIST" Enhanced Intel Speed Step).
Excuse me, I don't understand how theis CPU-Z can solve the problem of hotwheels not running on a IBM R40 or other Pentium M based PC..???
Can you please explain what to do?

Well, from Jason 96 the message "Processor-Unknown P6 family not supported. Hardware failed" reads of something particular with the CPU.
Jason's message also gave little info on his CPU, and when I run CPU-Z I find more information on my CPU--which I also wanted to give feedback on the apparently low clock speed (Speed Step).
You can see the clock speed rise when running some task on CPU-Z or running a task and observing System Information.
That is about all I can help with the problem, I do not know the hardware requirements of the program. Perhaps the program needs the SSE3 instruction set for which the pentium m does not have? Link:?
