Hi guys.

I am selling my Windows 8 Surface Pro and I want to set it to factory condition so when they turn it on, they will see what I saw exactly the day I got mine brand new.

Is that possible?

I know you can do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAK2KzWK_S4 (standard reset)

But then when it's done, the first screen I get is that "Your Display Language", but there's no option for me to shut the tablet down (I want it to shutdown completely, and not just sleep as it is being posted long distance). So I have to keep going with the setup.

Any ideas?

Disclaimer - I don't have a W8 machine in front of me atm so going by memory.

1. WinKey + I
2. Select 'Power'
3. Hold Shift while choosing Restart
4. Choose Troubleshoot
5. Select Reset
6. Select Install to Windows only Partition
7. Choose Fully Clean
8. Eat a Hot Pocket
9. Done

I tried sysprep/audit mode on a W8 system earlier this year with very bad results...your mileage may vary.

bah...forgot to add one step - simply powering it off at this point works fine - at least have never given me grief on rigs I have worked on

In Win7 the sysprep option was magic for the power down but really does seems to cause endless headaches with W8
