I didn't know where else to post this so it's here. Tonight I just noticed that my 4.1 sound is not working right. I don't get any sound out of my rear channels. It was working fine yesterday. I have a Creative Audigy 1 card. Using their software, I can test all 4 channels and it works ok. But if I play a sound file or play a game, the 2 rear channels are silent. Checking the XP sound settings, it is also set up for 4 speakers properly. Do you guys have any idea as to what is wrong? I am completely stumped.
If you want to listen to MP3's with all four speakers then open the EAX Console and play around with the CMSS settings. Sound quality is compromised a little but it still sounds alright. For games make sure your windows settings and sound card drivers are both set up for 4.1 sound.

I did a clean install of the older Audigy drivers and it solved my problem. I think the new beta drivers were the problem. Funny thing is I had been using them fine for about a week or two. Maybe the sound files just got corrupted somehow.
Yea, I have the same problem with the new beta drivers as well. I just got new 5.1 speakers to replace my old 2.1 and I was testing them and noticed that the rear speakers wouldn't work with mp3s or games. They would register in the speaker sound test, just directx or something doesn't seem to use them. After an hours I wound up installing the old drivers and the rear channels now work perfectly.
I really hope they fix this problem in the next release, beacause these drivers are awesome, other then this issue.
