M-Audio emailed me and told me there is no way to avoid the A/D conversion.
I don't know how good the converters are. I read some good things about this
preamp/compressor and am hoping to get some user feedback. I'd love to get a
couple of channels of Vintech or Averill but money is an issue. The most I'd
want to commit is 3-500 per channel.
I was considering selling my A&H MixWizard 14:4:2+ because I don't like the
preamps in it- and the Onyx by Mackie are suppose to be really good but I'd
rather just spend the money I'd lose on preamps.

The popular choice around here is the FMR RNP, $500 for two very clean
neutral preamps.
Thanks- I have 2 RNC and I love them. A friend just turned me on to another
really good preamp- Sytek- 4 channels- super clean and well made- no frills-
less than $900
I'd almost prefer a RNP and 2 other pre amps with different colors. I won't
be doing much more than 2 or 3 tracks at a time.
